Dear Parents and Families,
Homework begins this week for Social Studies. Each day at home your child should be spending time learning the states and capitals of the Northeast Region. Remember they can be learned through songs, videos, online games, and board games. The U.S.A. is defined by five regions for our learning. We will begin with: The Northeast Region: State Capital Maine Augusta Vermont Montpelier New Hampshire Concord Massachusetts Boston Connecticut Hartford Rhode Island Providence New York Albany New Jersey Trenton Pennsylvania Harrisburg Delaware Dover Maryland Annapolis Your student will be provided a map the week of Oct. 2, 2017 that contains the 11 states and 11 capitals of the Northeast Region. Here is a list of the 11 states and 11 capitals. Tentatively I am scheduling the test for October 11. Your child will need to be able to identify the location of each state on a map of the Northeast Region, and eventually a map of the USA. Please check out the Help Links and Documents page. I hope this becomes a fun way to share in your child's education! Thanks for being part of the team to improve your student's 5th grade experience! Dear Parents and Families,
Your student will be learning the 50 states and capitals of the U.S.A this school year! There are so many fun ways to learn them that include computer games, songs, board games, and puzzles to name just a few options. Our study will begin the week of October 2nd with an introduction at school. We will study the 50 states and capitals by regions. Your student will then have the region assigned as homework each day.
