Getting settled in the New World has taken a little bit longer than we expected!
So some of our lessons are continuing along the same themes. And, I have postponed the introduction of the Southeast Region States & Capitals until the week of November 6th. This week we will begin studying and comparing the English Colonies. There were three regions within the colonies: The New England Colonies, the Middle Colonies, and the Southern Colonies. The regions have distinct geographic features, including land- forms, natural resources, and climate. Their economies were based on local products and services. We will be learning about them this next week while we do a group project. It should be fun!
Hello!
We are gathering information about our individual histories to relate to our study of the history of our country. If you have a story or two from Grandma, or Grandpa that you want to pass down to your child it may prove to be helpful! Thanks for all of the help you gave your student to study for the NE Region states and capitals. Many students were VERY successful and felt good about their learning! We will begin our study of the SE Region states and capitals the week of October 30th. On Tuesday, October 10th we will have a review for the NE Region states and capitals. Then on Wednesday, October 11th your student will have a test on the Northeast Region States and Capitals. Once again, here are the states and capitals:
The Northeast Region: State Capital Maine Augusta Vermont Montpelier New Hampshire Concord Massachusetts Boston Connecticut Hartford Rhode Island Providence New York Albany New Jersey Trenton Pennsylvania Harrisburg Delaware Dover Maryland Annapolis The students appear to enjoy learning about the USA! Please see my "Help Links and Documents" page for maps on the NE Region. I have uploaded a blank map for practice at home, and a labeled map to check your work. |
